Types of Hemorrhoids

The different types of hemorrhoids relates to their location and the amount of discomfort you are experiencing.

The first type of hemorrhoids are whats termed internal hemorrhoids. These are normally located inside the rectum and do not cause pain. Occasionally, this type of hemorrhoid can bleed and would be bright red in color.

The second type of hemorrhoids are external hemorrhoids. This type is often called “piles”.

External hemorrhoids start under the skin around the opening of the anal cavity and then they increase in size until they take on the look of a bunch of grapes. This is because of the colour-purple or dark blue in colour. This type of hemorrhoid can be quite painful.

The third type of hemorrhoids go under the name prolapsed hemorrhoid. These are internal hemorrhoids that have collapsed and then stick out from the anus. With this type of hemorrhoid there is most likely to be a discharge and heavy bleeding. This type can give extreme discomfort because they have blood clots which form within them.

To help relieve the effects of hemorrhoids one of the things that will help is increasing your intake of fibre. It has been well documented that the increase of fibre will help in reducing the amount of straining.

It has been shown that when you have a good diet with plenty of fibre, you will soften your stool and simultaneously increase its bulk. This has the effect of helping you reducing straining when you go to the toilet.

To get your intake of fibre, a good place to begin is at breakfast, as there are many good bran cereals on the market, plus you can then follow this up by eating toasted brown bread. A word of warning here, while bread contains no natural fibre and will actually stop you from going to the toilet.

Another way to get lots of fibre into your system is to eat fresh fruit and vegetables. You have a very wide choice of food here, from apples, pears, grapes, bananas, to vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, swede, and turnips.
